Welcome to CropView
CROPVIEW stands for Comprehensive Resources for Observing Plants in a Visual Interactive Enhanced Window. The purpose of this project is to engage learners through computerized modules and an interactive game to gain knowledge of the plants that feed our world. CROPVIEW’s goal is to increase awareness of the general public to Crop Science (the science of producing food, feed and fiber for mankind). This program targets secondary education students and early collegiate.

Teaching modules begin with an Introductory Module giving an overview of major groups of plants, plant nutrition, photosynthesis and biome adaptation.

Next is a Nutrition Module which teaches how plants provide energy and protein for human nutritional needs.

A Biome Module follows with the characteristics that delineate biomes and where they occur in the world.

Finally, a Seed Plant Module gives descriptive information and interactive images of 20 of the world’s most important crops.
Upon completion of these modules, learners will be prepared to play the Feast or Famine Game.
Feast or Famine Game is an interactive game that evaluates comprehension and retention of module information in an entertaining way. The game consists of scenarios with increasing difficulty where people groups are faced with natural disasters leading to possible food deficits. The game player is presented the challenge of accepting the mission to identify plants that are adaptive to the disaster biome and that will satisfy human nutritional needs.
The CSI Game: The Crop Science Investigation (CSI) game is designed to help students learn about biological nitrogen fixation. The student will use the magnifying glass to look at the different features within the greenhouse, such as, the refrigerators, the soil, and thermostats, etc. Once the student has investigated everything within the greenhouse, a worker will appear and you will be able to look at the root nodules of the plants. All of your observations are collected on a notes page and you must guess what is wrong with the unhealthy plants.
